Tech Tip:

Free Malwarebytes Installation for Extra Layers of Protection

You go online every day. You research, shop and work knowing that you put yourself at risk each time. You have antivirus software so of course you are protected…..well, not necessarily. Today’s viruses are anything but tame – they are bigger, badder and more robust than ever. They even know how to get past your antivirus software, which means that they can get to you.

These days installing a secondary line of defense is necessary in order protect yourself from online attacks. There are programs out there designed to work in conjunction with your current antivirus, giving you double the protection. These programs locate malicious malware that your antivirus misses by working alone.  You can use a variety of available programs to keep your computer free of malware and file clutter. This month we will show you how to maintain your second layer of defense by installing Malwarebytes Free Anti-Malware program.

NOTE: Make sure that when you download the software the address matches the web addresses listed below. There are sites that will mimic or clone websites in order to get you to download malicious software. Review Malware Masquerading as Update Pop-Ups or Web Pages, if you have any questions.

That’s it, you have completed your first Malwarebytes scan and are now on your way to becoming safer online. To keep yourself even more secure, one additional step is necessary – cleaning out corrupted files. In order to make sure all traces of malicious malware have been removed, a cleaning program is recommended. Next month we will show you how to add in this final layer of protection while optimizing your system’s performance by removing unused and potentially corrupted files – all with another easy to use free service.
