Banking Tip:

Use Deposit Reversals in CaseLink Office to accurately reflect Ledger Entries

Deposit ReversalsWith so many cases to manage, you may occasionally find that you have incorrectly entered a deposit into the wrong case or account. CaseLink Office has the ability to help you quickly resolve this situation as proper entries into the ledger are incredibly important, especially when it comes to accurately reflecting deposit adjustments before your next audit.

The Deposit Reversal feature in CaseLink Office provides efficient and accurate reporting of deposit ledger entries. Instead of having to create and adjust an incorrect entry, the Deposit Reversal button enables you to properly reflect the correction by displaying the correction below the change. It displays this as a negative in the receipts column as well as removing the amount tied to the asset on Form 2.

To access this feature in CaseLink Office follow the steps below:

  1. On the Homepage first select the Case you need to correct. Next, go to Banking, click on the account and highlight the deposit you need to change. Once highlighted, click the Reverse Deposit button on the bottom of the screen.RD_CLO1
  2. On the far right of the screen you will see the Options menu which includes default settings for Deposit Reversal entries. When the box pops up check Prompt Before Saving ‘Reverse Deposit” to provide the option to enter in reversal notes on the correcting transaction.RD_CLO2
  3. A box will pop up allowing the user to enter in the correct entry date. By default, the current date will populate into the field.RD_CLO3
  4. Next, a box will appear allowing the user to view the the default correcting notes entry, or manually edit the entry to provide detail related to the transaction.RD_CLO4
  5. In the ledger you can then review the reverse entry. It will appear beneath the original ledger entry.

Deposit Reversals will help you achieve accurate reports for deposit entries. If you have any questions regarding these processes in CaseLink Office, contact our professionals in the BMS Support Center via email or call 800-634-7734, ext. 6. They can walk you through the step-by-step process.
