Technology Trailblazer Helping the Next Generation of Women Succeed

Terry Dear, VP of Software Development, has over 20 years experience in the Information Technology industry and has brought her high energy and hands-on approach to everything she does at BMS since she joined in 2010. Overseeing the development teams responsible for creating and enhancing products you use daily such as CaseLink Office, TrustWorks and DocLink, Terry strives to create new and exciting enhancements for BMS while guiding her team members to build the top quality products you need to for your business to operate smoothly every day.

As one of the top women leaders in technology in the Orange County, CA area, we were delighted when Terry told us that she is one of the founding members of the Orange County chapter of Women in Technology International (WITI) – an organization focused on empowering women to advance by providing access to – and support from – other women working in technology.

“I was struck by the fact that that there were so few women in the technology industry – with even fewer in leadership roles. I wanted to help change that and discovered the Los Angeles and San Diego chapters of WITI. With the large number of technology companies headquartered in Orange County, I wanted to bring WITI local to OC,  to interact with women who are just entering the workforce and those who want to move up to the next level in their technology careers. Paying it forward, I wanted to share my experiences and provide guidance to help them succeed,” tells Terry.

Last month, Terry was on a panel at the Advancing Women in Technology (AWT) May Forum along with female technology leaders from other major Southern California organizations including Toyota Financial Services, Western Digital and Edwards Lifesciences where they discussed “Women in Leadership” issues surrounding bringing greater diversity within the workforce.

Terry is leading the OC way later this month being the host of the inaugural CIO Panel for the WITI Orange County chapter.
