Four Case List Types

The Cases tab of the Sidekick provides four different list types to help you narrow down the cases you wish to see. Choosing the appropriate list type will make all the difference to how useful the Sidekick will be as you look for cases:

1) All

Displays a list of all cases. Use the filter, search, and sort controls to narrow down this list and find the case(s) you’re looking for.

2) Recent

Provides a list of up to 10 recently accessed cases (favorites or not) – a great way to quickly access a case you have been working in.

3) 341(a)

Displays a list of cases grouped together by meeting time – you’ll be able to see the cases separated into time blocks in the exact order of your meeting docket. To change the default meeting date selected, use the date picker to select cases for any 341(a) meeting date (or a date range) and click the Filter/Sort button > Apply Filter/Sort to have your date selection applied.

To change the default meeting date selected, use the date picker to select cases for any 341(a) meeting date (or a date range) and click the Filter/Sort button > Apply Filter/Sort to have your date selection applied. Sidekick Anticipates Where You Want to Go

When a case has been clicked on, it will appear highlighted in blue so you can easily see which case is active.

Clicking on a case takes you to different destinations depending on where you are within CaseLink²:

  • If you are on a Global screen, the Sidekick is an easy way to get into a case. Clicking opens to the Summary tab of the Case Information screen for the selected case.
  • If you are already on the Case Information screen, the Sidekick opens the selected case to whatever case tab you are already on. This allows you to move quickly between cases while staying on that specific tab or task.
  • If you are on the 341(a) list of the Sidekick, clicking on a case opens the 341(a) tab of the Case Information screen for the selected case.

Now that you have a basic understanding of the various case list types available, unwrap the true power of the Sidekick by incorporating these tips into your workflow.

Tip #1: Use the Filter, Sort and Search Controls

We offer several controls in the Sidekick (All, Recent and Favorites lists) to narrow down the cases displayed – filter for asset cases, no asset cases, or both;  filter for open cases, closed cases or all cases. In addition, you may sort the case list by case name, case number, asset vs. no asset, open vs. closed, and by attorney name. To get even more granular, enter the case name or number in the search bar to quickly reveal a specific case.

Tip #2: Favorite Cases that Require Regular Updates

Cases in the list can be favorited or removed from favorites by clicking the “Star” icon above the case number. Quickly access your most-used cases with this handy feature!

Tip #3: Use the 341(a) Sub-Menu for Easier 341(a) Prep and Meeting Management

Clicking on 341(a) sub-menu option on the cases tab of the Sidekick provides some additional options for looking at cases. Within this sub-menu listing, you can view the next upcoming meeting date and 341(a) cases grouped together by meeting time. Selecting cases from this sub-menu listing will invoke the Case Information Screen with the 341(a) tab displayed – a terrific way to update case memos or add notes for multiple cases in advance of a 341(a) meeting docket.

To change the default meeting date selected, use the date picker to select cases for any 341(a) meeting date (or a date range) and click the Filter/Sort button > Apply Filter/Sort to have your date selection applied. Use the additional filter selections to further refine the list of cases displayed.

Tip #4: Utilize the 341(a) Filters

Click on the Filter/Sort button to access additional case filtering options and to apply the selected 341(a) meeting date/date range. Choose a date and time range, filter by Meeting Status, Case Status, Asset vs. No Assets and even Reviewed status. Sort the case list by 16 different attributes. These fantastic filters and sort option allow you to get the exact cases you want in the exact order you want to see them.

Tip #5: Remember to Click the Filter/Sort button!

Whenever such a button is visible, you must click the Filter/Sort button in order to apply the settings. Otherwise, the default (or previous) settings continue to take precedence.
