Behind the ‘Green’ Curtain: Armani Ung

Behind-the-Green-Curtain-Armani-UngProviding superior support to our clients is a key differentiator for BMS. We consistently hear from clients that they appreciate the assistance they receive from the team members in the BMS Support Center. You’ve heard their voices over the phone over the years. But who are they? Take a closer look in our new ‘BMS Behind the Green Curtain’ series where we’ll profile a different BMS team member each month.

This month, meet Armani Ung—one of our Banking Operations Analysts:

Q: Where are you from originally and how did you get into your current role at BMS?

A: I am originally from San Jose, California, and I moved to Southern California in early 2014. I was employed at Citibank prior to joining BMS.

Q: How long have you been with BMS?

A: I have been working at BMS since April 2014—coming up on 2 years pretty soon!

Q: What do you love about your job?

A: I work with an amazing group of hard-working individuals. Everyone is dedicated to achieving the same goal—helping our clients—and that definitely makes me look forward to coming into work every day.

Q: What is a unique challenge you’ve helped a client overcome?

A: Every challenge that I’ve come across is unique on its own. When I first started at BMS, a client received an incoming wire from an unknown sender. After a few days of research and persistent follow-ups, I was able to contact the mystery sender and assist the trustee in closing out their re-opened case.

Q: What is the greatest compliment you’ve received from a client?

A: All compliments are equally great, but I am especially grateful to those who are vocal about how much they appreciate the banking team. When I hear a compliment passed onto us about the efforts of the banking team from an account manager or our senior management, it’s a great morale booster. That drives me to work my hardest.

Q: What is one thing that you think all clients should know when it comes to banking?

A: When a check is deposited at the bank, it does not guarantee that the funds are good to use. All deposits made into an account have the risk of being returned. The bank generally receives a returned deposit notice on the fifth business day, which may be due to insufficient funds or a stop payment placed by the issuer. I always advise clients to wait 5 business days after the deposit is processed before issuing funds from the account, or releasing property or sales to buyers.

Q: What do you like to do outside of work?

A: I like to work on lots of do-it-yourself projects, and I also love traveling. I recently built my dream computer at home from parts that I’ve been acquiring, as well as a two-tiered desk out of different furniture parts from Ikea. For my upcoming travel ventures, I will be visiting Japan and Korea early next year.

Q: Share a fun fact about yourself!

A: I’m slightly obsessed with buying things online from Amazon.

Consider asking Armani about something from this article the next time you’re on the phone with him when you’re calling into the BMS Banking Center!
