Banking Operations Analyst I

Position Summary

The in-house BMS Banking Center team is the only one of it’s kind in our industry, and is made up of experienced professionals available to assist clients in all their banking needs. The Banking Operations Analyst monitors and resolves issues related to the daily banking transaction exception report, provides secondary-level support to Customer Service Representatives. Furthermore, the Banking Operations Analyst assesses the impact, tests, assists implementing changes to banking operations systems.  This position is part of a larger client-facing support and service team.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Review daily bank exception reporting and take appropriate actions in a timely manner to meet required deadlines
  • Research and resolve banking-related issues escalated by customer service team and other client-facing groups
  • Monitor, research, and process banking transactions using internal banking systems
  • Identify irregularities as potential problems and conduct research to form conclusions and make recommendations
  • Formulate activity reports
  • Perform User Acceptance Testing
  • Contact clients as needed to help with escalated problems and ensure all issues are accurately and timely documented
  • Provide back-up support to call agents by responding to and resolving proprietary software calls / issues when needed
  • Ensure decisions on all action items meet daily deadlines

Position Expectations:

  • Exception ability to analyze issues or troubleshoot processes and propose course of action including impact of solution to systems and clients
  • Communicate succinctly, using a summary or technical details as appropriate
  • Document, follow up and seek root cause resolution even after the situation is resolved
  • Understand SQL select statements that involve multiple table joins and modify them to meet the current situation
  • Resolve client issues by applying knowledge as banking Subject Matter Expert
  • Contact clients as needed to resolve escalated issues; Take live calls as a backup to Customer Service Rep team
  • Communicate problems and potential solutions clearly to all levels of internal
  • Complete repetitive tasks daily
  • Maintain working knowledge of the file exchange process between BMS and our counterparts at our banking partners

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration/Finance or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in financial operations (including exception handling) or equivalent experience in the bankruptcy industry
  • Previous data analysis experience required
  • Must possess mathematical aptitude
  • Must have working knowledge of personal computer applications including Microsoft Office
  • Experience with supporting proprietary software a plus
