Banking Operations Analyst II

We are currently seeking candidates for a Banking Operations Analyst position with a background in transaction exceptions handling and data analysis.

Position Summary

The in-house BMS Banking Center is the only one of its kind in our industry and is made up of experienced professionals available to assist clients in their unique banking needs.

The Banking Operations Analyst monitors and resolves issues related to clients’ daily banking transactions, and provides secondary-level support to Banking Customer Service Representatives (CSRs). Furthermore, the Banking Operations Analyst assesses the impact of banking operations systems, and tests and assists in implementing changes to these systems as needed. This position is part of a larger client-service team.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze daily reports and queues produced by BMS, our partner banks, or vendors in order to identify anomalies, rejects, or other banking items that fall out of normal flow.
  • Research and resolve daily banking-related issues as they arise and meet bank, vendor, and BMS-required deadlines.
  • Take ownership of application fixes or builds, including prioritizing and scheduling short-term workarounds, long-term fixes, and testing.
  • Formulate ad-hoc activity reports.

Position Expectations:

  • Identify the root cause of problems, provide potential solutions, and participate in decision-making.
  • Communicate succinctly, using supporting data/technical details to persuade others about a proposed course of action.
  • Document business specifications for enhancement requests to be used by application support and development teams.
  • Understand SQL select statements that involve multiple table joins and modify them to meet the current situation.
  • Maintain working knowledge of the file exchange process between BMS and our partner banks.
  • Be able to explain both the concept and details of new functionality or new processes to
  • Anticipate the impact that software defects, operational issues, or proposed solutions will have on the client system and raise proposed solutions.
  • Partner with bank and vendors in order to facilitate progress on outstanding issues, and provide continued follow-up with all parties.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Business Administration or related field preferred
  • Minimum of three years of experience in banking operations, including exception handling
  • Extensive data analysis experience required
  • Experience building SQL queries
  • Must possess mathematical aptitude
  • Must have advanced working knowledge of personal computer applications including Microsoft Office
  • Experience with supporting proprietary software
